Isles & Glaciers have finally posted the album version of “Hills Like White Elephants”. You can scope it out on their MySpace. INTERVIEW: Van Truong of Lions Lions / Wear For Changes

You probably know Van Truong from his guitar playing in Lions Lions, but he’s also the mastermind behind a clothing line called Wear For Changes. Yeah – we know – what musician these days doesn’t have a clothing company? Well, this is different. Profits from the apparel company currently go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. So when you buy a Wear For Changes shirt from Van, you can be sure your money is helping someone in need.

You’re a music guy, so why start a clothing line?

Music is what I love and enjoy doing. As a musician I realized that alot of people have a lot of respect for the bands that they love, so by doing this clothing line I hope to get a message across to the younger audience that the world is not perfect, and that many places need our help.

Why did you choose to have some of the profits go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and not another fund?

If I could I would donate to all kinds of charities, but Wear For Changes is not big enough to do so. I want to focus my goal towards the American Red Cross’s Disaster Relief Fund because I feel like that’s where it is most needed.

Explain the process of going from having an idea to having the finished product. What did you do to get from point A to point B in creating Wear For Changes?

I have wanted to start a clothing company for 3 years now, but never really found the drive to do so. Recently my mother had a horrible accident that disabled her from doing many activities, and it was very difficult for us to find help for her. This awful experience gave me the motivation to do something that combines something I love and helping others, which is how I came up with Wear For Changes.

Will you ever bring Wear For Changes on the road and sell it alongside Lions Lions merch? Why or why not?

Since the beginning of Wear For Changes, I’ve shared tables alongside not only Lions Lions but also bands from all around New England. I will continue to do so until I can reach my goal and expand my company.

Do foresee designing other types of Wear For Changes apparel for your cause?

I definitely would like to design as many different products as I can to help expand the company. I’ll be designing more clothing wear and maybe even find a way to combine Wear For Changes into musical products.

What are your ultimate goals for Wear for Changes and how do you plan on getting there?

My goals for Wear For Changes at the moment are to get the products into as many people’s hands as possible, and to see people wearing it across the country. In the future I am hoping that I can expand the company and turn it into a store.

Defeater’s West Coast Tour W/ All Teeth Starts Tomorrow!

Defeater is gearing up to hit the streets for their first West coast tour since the release of Lost Ground this past November. Beginning tomorrow,Defeater will be on the road for two weeks, canvassing the West coast in its entirety. While sharing the road with All Teeth and Touche Amore, Defeater will be showcasing new songs off of their recently released Lost Ground EP which was hailed ” a haunting, perfectly- executed concept album” (SputnikMusic).

Having only been unleashed on masses less than two months ago, Lost Ground has already received critical acclaim from the press landing itself on several Top Lists of ’09 including PunkNews, Mammoth Press, and PastePunk. This six song double 7″ EP was written in a similar narrative style to Defeater’s debut album, Travels, and follows a man’s journey from enlisting in the military to post-war life. While their debut was called “a new artistic peak for hardcore” by Punknews and “the perfect definition of modern hardcore” by Lambgoat), Lost Ground has already surpassed the critical acclaim Defeater has received thus far.
